My Background

I am the oldest of four sisters and identify as black Korean-American. I grew up in England, studying mathematics and biology up until A2. My family moved back to the United States after high school, and I made the scary decision to follow my passion for design. I enrolled in Kent State’s fashion design program and graduated in 2020 as one of the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Futures Graduates for my creative direction. I continued my passion for visual story-telling at Kent State’s Visual Communication Design MFA program, which I completed in 2022. Now I live in Ohio with my husband, falling in love with good stories and telling them as experientially as I can.

My Catchphrase

“Let’s try it together and see!”

My CliftonStrengths

I really enjoy using CliftonStrenths as a tool within personal and professional relationships and have included my top 5 strengths. If you’d like to see more, please ask and I’d be happy to share it with you.

1. Relator
I enjoy close relationships with others. I find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.

2. Strategic
I create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, I can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.
3. Ideation
By nature, I am able to concentrate for hours at a time. I examine new information to deepen understanding of various subjects. When I explore topics, customarily I generate fresh ideas.
4. Learner
By nature, I automatically ask individuals questions to discover their talents, interests, hopes, fears, successes, or failures. I am apt to be the one to whom others look for ideas about assignments to give each individual. I am likely to understand what is and is not a reasonable expectation to place on someone.
5. Intellection
I have new ideas whirling around in my head much of the time. I am very interested in solving problems, conceiving new concepts, designing plans, or understanding everyday matters.

An example of my CliftonStrengths at work:
During a community event for AIGA Cleveland, my team of designers, artists, and creatives was struggling to meet our prompt: design something describing Cleveland.  So I suggested we each make a contribution from our experience. From this, we made a Cleveland ‘taco’ containing the many flavors of the Cleveland experience.
